Executive Search

Executive Search (Retained)

Companies usually engage retained executive search services for senior executive hires. “Retained” means the hiring companies pay a recruitment fee regardless of whether a position is filled successfully. Depending on your company’s hiring requirements, this option may or may not be suitable. If you are looking to land a senior hire and would like a comprehensive view of the talent in the market for the role, then you should go with this option. Recruitment firms working on a “contingent” basis will find it challenging to dedicate resources continuously to the search to map out all potential candidates and to reach out to them to assess their fit, if the search turns out to be a difficult one. You will likely end up having to restart the search, using another firm.

The market practice among the big firms in the executive search industry is to charge a fee that is around one-third of the hired executive’s first year estimated total compensation. As we are a boutique firm with lower overheads, we can be more flexible to work out an arrangement that would suit your needs.

Executive Search (Contingent)

This would be the preferred option for many hiring companies as there is no upfront financial commitment. This should work for most hires, save for the mission-critical and senior confidential searches. However, the deliverables will also be generally different from retained search. The recruitment firms would typically present candidates but usually there would not be any comprehensive progress reports sharing market intelligence on the talent landscape.

Recruitment firms working on a contingent basis would typically focus on candidates they already know or those who apply to job postings. We would advocate a “head-hunting” approach even for a contingent search not at the most senior levels as the best candidates are often the passive ones not looking for a job.

Agile Contingent Executive (ACE) Search: We could also apply this approach to senior executive hiring if you do not need to see a long list of candidates. We will propose an "Agile" methodology - allow us 2 to 3 weeks maximum to work on the search exclusively and we will surface candidates quickly for your consideration. If the candidates do not work out for whatever reasons, you do not pay anything and can still consider commissioning a retained search to do a more thorough and comprehensive search or move on to other options.

Market Mapping

There are times when you are not quite ready to hire someone but you would like to get a sense of the available talent in the market. You can then commission a market mapping. That gives you a view of the talent pool for the role you have in mind and once you are ready to hire, we can turn this into a full search very quickly.

Executive Coaching

For Corporates:

C-Suite Effectiveness Programme (suitable for C-Suite executives)

Partnering with an executive coach helps C-suite leaders work on the demands of their roles they may be experiencing.  It helps reduce burnout and job dissatisfaction, achieves better work-life balance and generates better results in their leadership.  Perhaps most significantly, research has also shown that coaching helps employees establish lasting behaviour change. Coaching also makes it significantly more likely that high-level executives will attain their development goals.

Leadership Step-Up Programme (suitable for employees being groomed for leadership roles)

One of the most important functions of coaching is to help companies develop talent for succession. Talent development is the engine that drives succession planning; it is the process of attracting, retaining, and promoting leaders from within your organization. Additionally, it involves dedicating time, effort, and resources to developing future leaders. Coaching is one of the most effective ways you can guide talent development. Hence, effective coaching directly benefits the succession planning process.

Employee Engagement Programme (suitable for organizations looking to improve their employee engagement)

Employees who are engaged stay at companies for longer and work harder to reach their goals, one of the most critical aspects to the success of an organization. Employees who feel energised and motivated about what they’re doing are typically pushing the top end of both productivity and quality in their work. However, this is equally true for the opposite. When an employee is disengaged, they often under-perform in their tasks and projects. Solving the challenge of low employee engagement can seem difficult, but corporate coaching is a step in the right direction, an effective path to improving employee engagement throughout an organization.  When employees are engaged, everything improves.

Redundancy Transition Programme (for organizations undergoing a redundancy and looking to extend help to affected employees)

Redundancy is a loss, and like all losses may trigger a grieving process. Anger, denial, shame, embarrassment, feelings of failure are all perfectly understandable in the face of losing one's job. Alongside the emotional fallout, life will suddenly look very different on a day-to-day basis: usual routine will disappear, and the individual will have to handle the practicalities of redundancy as well.  This is representing an opportunity for change – even if it's hard to see it at first, and this is where working with a professional coach will help.

For Individuals:

Personal/Professional Development Programme

Coaching is a highly personalized and individualized well-being intervention.  It has been observed that coaching can reliably deliver positive outcomes for all kinds of people. Whether you are pursuing business coaching for your company or career coaching for yourself, the relationship with a coach is unlike any other personal or professional relationship. A coach helps individuals identify their priorities, manage their time effectively, and establish boundaries, and more, thereby achieving a more harmonious balance between their work and personal life. One of the transformative benefits of personal coaching is its potential to help individuals find purpose and direction in their lives.

Career Navigation Programme

Charting a career path can often feel like navigating uncharted territory, with difficult decisions at every fork in the path ahead.  Whether it's deciding on a career path, identifying natural strengths and passions, determining skills to develop, or knowing when to move on from a company; a career coach offers personalised, insightful conversations to make these pivotal decisions more manageable and less overwhelming.  These conversations may also include reviewing and improving resume writings, ensuring it stands out in the competitive job market.  Finally, mock interview sessions not only prepare the individual for the real interviews but also offer constructive feedback to enhance the performance at the interviews.

Board Advisory

Board Advisory

Good corporate governance in companies is often something that is overlooked. The board of directors of a company usually set the tone for corporate governance. However, in Singapore, some companies, especially the smaller ones, may not follow the best practices in corporate governance and often times, this is because they are not fully familiar with the corporate governance guidelines which can change over time.

Some of the areas we can advise on:

  • Board Formation/ Composition

    • For new companies looking to form a board of directors and would like advice on how to go about that and what type of directors you should have on board.

  • Board Health Analysis

    • For companies who would like to review their existing boards to see if they are practising good corporate governance and to find out if there are gaps to be filled.

  • Board Director search

    • Following our analysis on your company’s “Board Health”, you may decide to embark on a board director search to replace your existing directors or to enhance your board.
